CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Students who graduate from the child development program within the Toros University Vocational School of Health Sciences receive the title of "Vocational Staff". While students who have graduated from many associate degree programs have difficulties in employment; Our child development graduates can easily work as managers, trainers and/or assistant trainers in workplaces related to their field (preschool education and private education institutions, children's clinics of hospitals, child care homes, social services, etc.) and open their own workplaces with their diplomas.
The purpose of this program; It aims to train professional staff who can lead families, children and educators with their modern education and developmental knowledge level, who can renew and develop themselves in line with the changing and developing needs of the society, who can communicate creatively and effectively, and who adhere to the principles of secular, democratic and rule of law in line with Atatürk's principles and reforms.
Program Outcomes
1 - Has basic theoretical and practical knowledge about the physical, cognitive, social-emotional development, language development and self-care skills of individuals between the ages of 0-18 and the learning characteristics of individuals in this age range.
2 - Uses the information and knowledge technologies required by the field of child development.
3 - Defines children's rights. Knows the legal steps to follow in case of encountering children who are neglected and abused.
4 - Has basic knowledge about child health and diseases.
5 - Defines emotional behavioral disorders in children.
6 - Prepares, implements and evaluates educational programs by taking into account the developmental characteristics and individual differences of children.
7 - Plans and implements activities based on appropriate teaching strategies, methods and techniques by taking into account the developmental characteristics and individual differences of children.
8 - Has the ability to design and implement games for effective teaching.
9 - Demonstrates basic level of English skills and recognizes concepts related to the field.
10 - Acting in accordance with quality management and processes and being able to participate in these processes
11 - Knows the developmental characteristics and individual differences of children with special needs in line with the integration/integration education and prepares a program.
12 - Can express himself/herself through words, body and art
13 - Prepares educational materials supporting the developmental areas (physical, cognitive, language, social-emotional, motor development areas) of children in preschool and special education institutions and organizes educational environments.
14 - Recognizes the relationship between society, family and child; carries out activities with family participation.
Program Objectives
1- Knows the needs of children with normal and atypical development between the ages of 0-18 within all developmental areas.
2- Knows how to plan activities appropriate to the developmental levels and needs of children.
3- Has the necessary professional skills to evaluate children individually and include families in the education process.
4- Acts in accordance with the requirements of the society and professional ethical values in which he/she is located.
5- Knows how to act in accordance with the ethical values required by children and human rights.
